After running my first marathon, I wanted to commemorate my accomplishment with a piece of jewelry. Designing jewelry has always been a passion of mine so I created a rope anklet with 26.2 silver beads and a runner girl charm. I wore that anklet everywhere—to work, the beach, even to bed and WOW people started commenting on it and wondered how they could get one. I began thinking I should market the jewelry at races and expos, so other people could commemorate their Milestone accomplishments as well.
After a Sunday long run with my track club, I met Christine who convinced me that my sports Jewelry making would make a great business targeting a niche market. Together, we came up with the company name: Milestones Jewelry--Running and Endurance Sports Jewelry and soon after launched our new business.
It has been very exciting to create a business that involves my passion for sports and jewelry design. At our Expos and events we have been fortunate to meet some of the nicest people in the world.
Running a marathon is a huge accomplishment in itself, but raising money for a good cause makes it that much sweeter when you cross the finish line.
In 2007 I ran my first marathon with Team in Training at Disney World in Orlando, Florida raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of my friend Linda Greif.
Since then I have completed 4 more Marathons (A total of 5); raising money for the American Heart Association, Autism Speaks and Logan's Run Rescue! My other marathons were New York City, Chicago and my last one was in Paris, France~
I live in the beautiful smokey mountains of North Carolina and enjoy all types of sports including whitewater rafting, hiking, & weightlifting and have recently started training for my first triathlon. So now I can add swimming and cycling to the list of sports I love!
I have been married for 12 years to my wonderful husband Stuart, and we have our baby's “Maya,” a 5-year-old Shih Tzu and recently rescued an Australian Sheppard who we named Aragorn (think Lord of the Rings).
Milestone’s Jewelry has been a great journey now for over 2 years.
I hope you will honor yourself, your friends and family by purchasing something meaningful and special from Milestones Jewelry.
You work hard, train hard and you deserve to show off your milestone accomplishments with a piece of jewelry that expresses your passion.
I hope to have the opportunity to meet you soon. Keep up the good work and “NEVER QUIT!”
